Reducing Numbers of Empty Homes

Empty homes in England are falling in numbers according to the Halifax. Their housing report showed that there has been a 9% drop in empty homes in the last 5 years.

However, more than 3% of the total stock in 17 local authorities are still empty properties, with more than half of these being in the North West.

Among the 17 local authorities with the >3% figure, 15 were in the 20% most deprived parts of the country, while 11 had an unemployment rate which was the same or above the national average.
