The government is reviewing lifetime tenancies for council homes, and it is possible that housing arrangements could be reviewed on a more regular basis. It has been indicated that means testing may be implemented and any tenants who, in theory, could afford their own home, may be forced to do so.

The move has been criticised by some, as an attempt to deflect criticism of the government's lack of affordable housing. It remains to be seen how the plans pan out in the longterm - many people may have nowehere to go, and be in an even more financially difficult situation than many of us are already.
